Communications Officer (Maternity Leave)

 

Currently, SCHC is seeking a Communications Officer for a 1 year maternity leave.

 

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree in at least one of the following disciplines: public relations, marketing, journalism, communications, or fundraising (required)
  • Five years experience in the fields of marketing, public relations, or communications
  • Sound knowledge of: layout and design concepts, practices and procedures; advertising and media buying; communications and promotion; public and media relations
  • Proficiency in computer software applications such as Microsoft Office Publisher
  • Sound knowledge of and experience working with electronic file transfer systems; computer peripherals such as scanners, CD/DVD drives, zip drives, and digital cameras
  • Ability to demonstrate effective team behaviours such as active listening, sharing, balanced participation, and contributing to shared team goals
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to exercise tact, good judgment and diplomacy
  • Professional affiliations in communications or fundraising (required)
  • In co-ordination with the Director, Community Development and the CEO, develop and distribute press releases for the Centre and all of its programs to all media and community agencies
  • Assist as a liason with staff for assistance with media and marketing initiatives
  • Co-ordinate the marketing and media for THC fundraising events.
  • Edit and write various publications
  • Ensure all material on the web site is current and items are put on in a timely manner
  • Participate on the annual gala committee, golf committee and Teen Health Month. Assume a variety of tasks or duties to ensure (or contribute to) the overall success of these and other special events
  • Photograph THC events and file these photographs on home folders
  • Assist in the overall implementation of the annual PR/Development Department Plan
