West Side Pride Youth Program - Skills Link
SCHC identified a need in the community, submitted proposals and has been awarded funds from Human Resources and Skills Development Canada to provide the Skills Link Program in 2005, 2006-2007, 2008 and 2009. SCHC is the legal sponsor for this initiative. This is a staff-facilitated, self-help program providing professional development opportunities for twelve youth between the ages of 15 and 30 years who have barriers to employment. The goals of the program are to train youth for the workplace or return to school. These youth have barriers to employment either personal or lack of education. Workshops are provided that are tailored to their individual needs and they provide community service to the West Windsor area. This is a five month initiative with the youth attending Monday to Friday, thirty hours per week. Sandwich Teen Action Group (STAG), the City of Windsor, Graffiti Busters, Windsor Art Studio and Net Success partner with SCHC to provide this program.
