Quit 4 Life

Quit 4 Life has been offered by the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) for many years but SCHC became actively involved in the program in 2005. This is a Health Canada Program through the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MoHLTC) developed for youth to provide the education, support and assistance they require to quit smoking. Quit 4 Life is a staff-facilitated  and self-help group for youth between the ages of fourteen and twenty that smoke and want to quit. The program is provided to five local high schools for a period of ten weeks for 60-75 minutes each week. The program runs once a week from September to June every year with ten to twenty youth in each class. SCHC partners with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) , the Greater Essex County District School Board (GECDSB) and the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board (WECDSB) to provide this program. This valuable program has been recognized, visited by and highlighted by the Minister of health Promotion. It was also recognized and a picture with one of SCHC high school classes on the Ministry of Health Promotion website.
