Qi Gong
Qi Gong has been offered by SCHC since 2000 to help individuals learn the skills of meditation to increase relaxation and reduce stress. Qi Gong is a form of exercise that uses gentle movement with breathing, meditation, imagery, sound, self-accupressure and self-massage. Qi Gong will boost energy and decrease fatigue, alleviate chronic aches and pains, reduce stress and create inner calm, promote deeper sleep and much more. Through the use of pre and post test, participants involved in Qi Gong report increased energy, lower stress levels, reduced chronic aches and pains, better sleep patterns, increased concentration and better memory, improved posture, lower blood pressure and more ease with deep breathing. Participants also report improved balance leading to less falls. This staff-facilitated program is available for any adult within Windsor and Essex County. The program is held at St. John's Parish Hall every Wednesday from September to June. Each session is one and one-half hours in length. Pat St. Louis from the Wellness Through Grief and Art Support collaborates with SCHC to provide this program.
