Children's Expo
The Children's Expo was first offered in 2004 as part of a Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MoHLTC) initiative, Job Creation Placement program. This full day event is a staff-facilitated program designed to provide information and physical activity ideas to parents. The program is provided for families, children and parents. The goals of the program are to provide up to date information to parents about childhood development through health fair booths, demonstrations and ideas for physical activity in the community and provide a venue for children to learn about new sports not typically offered in the school system. The Children's Expo is offered every two years, i.e. 2004, 2006, 2008, and has been attended by 200 to 500 children and parents each year that it was offered. At least a dozen community and educational partners collaborate with SCHC to provide activities and information for the health fair booths.
