Registered Nurse - Best Practice Spotlight Organization
The Sandwich Community Health Centre Inc. (SCHC), located in the West Windsor Community of Sandwich, is funded by the Erie St. Clair Local Health Integration Network. Our focus is on the client and community.
Scope of Position
The Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) has identified a number of "Best Practice" guidelines and tools that will help nurses and other members of the inter-professional team, provide the highest quality care possible. The practice standards and guidelines contain the professional expectations for all Ontario Nurses to apply in a variety of practice settings and situations. In April 2009, SCHC was chosen as a Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) Candidate.
As a result, SCHC has an immediate opening for a registered nurse to launch the BPSO Candidate project within the Centre. this is a one-year position from April 2009 - March 2010, with a possibility of extension for an additional one to two years depending on successful implementation of the program requirements within year one, two and three. The responsibilities outlined below will be in addition to regular day to day activities within the Centre. **
** The successful candidate will be allotted time during the work week to complete tasks associated with the BPSO Candidate Project and will also be expected to provide front line care to clients, freeing up colleagues who are also working on the implementation of best practice guidelines. An agreed upon schedule will be implemented once a successful candidate is chosen.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure consistent implementation of RNAO Nursing Best Practice Guidelines and adherence to the Terms and Conditions of the International Affairs and Best Practice Guidelines program (run date April 2009 - March 2010.
Participate in required meetings as identified by the Executive Director and/or the RNAO and ensure all parties are kept up to date on program activities utilizing effective communication and project management methods.
Ensure timely submission of deliverables to the RNAO.
Liaise with RNAO nominated member ensuring open lines of communication regarding the program particulars.
Establish and lead the BPSO candidate Steering Committee activities within SCHC.
Successfully implement and evaluate the required number of Best Practice Guidelines in line with the Terms and Conditions set out by the RNAO guidelines.
Spearhead all required implementation projects including, but not limited to, research proposals, participation in required training, education programs or focus groups.
Work in conjunction with the Nursing Best Practice Resarch Unit (NBPRU) and participate in formal research projects as required.
Provide data and appropriate reports, summaries and analyses of data collected to assist with evaluating the Best Practice Guidelines.
Ensure dissemination of program information/materials as outlined in the Terms and Conditions of the Best Practice Guidelines.
Establish and maintain link and develop partnerships with other resources as well as the SCHC clients, staff and community partners.

Provide back up for colleagues who are also working on special projects as agreed to by BPSO Candidate Steering Committee, in coordination with the Clinical Manager.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate must be a Registered Nurse in Ontario and a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Graduate degree in nursing from a recognized university or combination of nursing diploma and additional relevant working experience, courses and/or training.
Three to five years recent nursing experience in a community setting or combination of community and hospital or public health settings.
Experience in program development, project management and implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
Interest in evidenced based care and research.
Proficiency in the use of computers and various software applications.
Demonstrated ability to be flexible and possess strong organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal, public speaking and communication skills.
Motivated, self-directed and a team player.
Active member of RNAO - required.
Available days, evenings and some weekends.
Valid drivers license and have a vehicle with valid insurance coverage.
Willing to travel throughout Windsor and Essex County.

Salary range: $54,035 - $65,103 based on 1.0 FTE.
