Pharmacist
The pharmacist is the health professional who focuses on the patient's drug therapy. The pharmacist's primary role is to ensure that a patient's medications are the most effective and are used in the most appropriate manner. Pharmacists can recommend an over-the-counter (OTC) product for pain relief, demonstrate the proper use of an asthma inhaler and help patients manage their diabetes. Patients can also talk to their pharmacist about how to take, store and dispose of medication; what foods or activities to avoid; and what to do if a dose is missed.
